Unified Managed Account

GlobalBridge provides its clients with the trade order management and portfolio accounting technology to efficiently manage and rebalance client portfolios regardless of asset class or security type.  Clients can set up a single account at a bank or broker custodian, but still get performance attribution from multiple asset classes.  This technology reduces the number of accounts, statements, and 1099s. Additionally, it enables an advisor to better understand where security, industry and sector bets are being made, and allows for efficient rebalancing and realignment of the portfolio.

By using separately managed accounts from our choice of over 70 managers and 100 portfolio models, the advisor gets full transparency of the portfolio holdings. While there are significant advantages of holding individual securities versus ETFs or mutual funds, if an advisor elects to use ETFs or mutual funds, there is no need to set up a separate account at a custodian.

GlobalBridge has access to some of the finest institutional portfolio managers in the country. We "overlay" their equity models with our UMA technology, so your clients can have their portfolios track the moves of these managers. Fixed income managers will trade the client accounts directly. Additionally, the managers' research is available for bank and advisor use in their own investment research.

The end result is our banking and advisor clients have the tools to compete with larger Wall Street brokers and large money center banks to more effectively compete for the financial assets of high net worth and institutions clients.

Bridge to Institutional Managers

GlobalBridge is your bridge to over 70 institutional money managers in the country.  We have signed agreements with only the most proven professionals with track records that stand out.  In fact, since our inception in 2000, 96.8% of our recommended managers have exceeded their respective benchmarks.  Our clients have the option of solely using our money managers, or blending them in with their own investment strategies to provide an extra layer of diversification.

Becoming a GlobalBridge manager requires tremendous due diligence.  Our managers undergo an intense screening and investment committee review before they are ever added to our platform for your consideration.

Investment Performance Reporting

GlobalBridge offers your clients everything from the most basic to the most in-depth performance reports. You decide which is most appropriate. The reports can be branded with your name and client name resulting in a very professional presentation.

Most managed account providers require the set up of a separate bank or broker account, if the client wants performance reporting for individual asset classes or portfolios. GlobalBridge’s technology from SS&C allows for a single account set up but still providing for individual asset class performance reporting. This is a huge benefit for banks or advisors who seek to reduce the number of accounts, the number of statements and paperwork, and 1099s produced. Clients get a single consolidated report with detailed performance reporting that shows sources of return and sources of risk.

Our reports can also save you money. One reason GlobalBridge clients like our reporting is because it gives them significant cost savings. Many providers charge on a per account basis. Because our technology enables a single account set up, the fees are substantially lower than expensive third party performance reporting vendors.

GB Unified Managed Account


Unified Managed Accounts (UMA) are becoming more critical for high net worth and institutional clients who are looking to consolidate their various assets and have them professionally managed. Those clients are also looking for private portfolio managers that can beat their benchmarks and potentially offer superior returns on a consistent basis.

At GlobalBridge, we have the technology and the portfolio manager access that sets our bank and advisor clients apart. We also help them eliminate the need for third party reporting costs and reduce the need for multiple custodian accounts and trust accounts. And that means more profit.

Here's how it works:

We utilize a model portfolio overlay approach where over 70 different institutional managers supply their model portfolios to us, when they rebalance their institutional accounts. Trades are quickly – and cost-effectively – processed so that your clients have the same holdings and weightings, after adjusting for any client restrictions and any tax liability management. At the end of the trading day all transactions are uploaded daily to the bank trust accounting system or the advisor portfolio accounting system. This gives banks and advisors full and timely transparency of transactions and portfolio positions. Investment performance reports are available daily, monthly, quarterly and annually.

Our managers represent a wide range of disciplines, including 100 managed account strategies, 150 mutual funds and 250 exchange traded fund (ETF) strategies. Each month, these managers send us research reports that traditionally don't go to individual investors.

GlobalBridge also gives you regular quality assurance on your clients' portfolios via very detailed performance reporting: This performance reporting can be customized to provide your clients with as much or little data as they wish to receive.

Multi-Manager Access/Diligence


Currently, GlobalBridge has agreements with 75 managers representing 100 different investment styles. As our reputation rests upon the quality and performance of our approved managers, intense scrutiny factors into the review of every manager.

And as our reputation for quality asset management has spread, portfolio managers are now approaching us seeking to be added to our platform.

Our comprehensive due diligence process is the reason our 10-year track record has been so successful. When we review a money manager, there is a rigid discipline that we employ to ensure we fully understand all facets of that manager including:

The process starts with our Investment Research Group, a team of 13 investment veterans who puts the proposed manager through a three-step filter:

Level One begins with an overview of the bullet points listed above. If the manager/team/firm does not show consistency across those inquiries, then the group goes no further. Should the preliminary tests be passed, more comprehensive research is conducted such as how portfolios are constructed, risk management procedures, manager interviews by analysts, even disaster recovery plans.

Next, we apply research analytics to address possible issues like style drift, position turnover, asset allocations, standard deviation and a host of other metrics to ensure we totally understand the manager and where/how the returns are being generated.

Assuming our managers pass these tests, we move to Level Two. Here we apply Portfolio Opportunity Distribution (POD) analysis to determine if the manager is providing added value over his/her benchmark and to what significance. We also apply Barra Performance Analysis (BPA) to better understand where that added value is coming from and if significant.

Inclusive in Level 2 are screens for market timing, volatility, sectors/industries, leverage, trading activity, earnings growth and more.

Finally, the group applies Level Three disciplines where ultimately a manger is either approved, conditionally approved or rejected. This level of diligence is also ongoing, as approved managers will have to submit regular findings, research reports and quarterly managerial profiles to remain upon the GlobalBridge approved platform.

Once approved, managers are regularly monitored to ensure they are performing up to our standards. We will remove a manager that is unable to deliver consistent performance to our clients.

An additional benefit of using GlobalBridge managers is that these institutional fund managers would otherwise be unavailable to individuals and institutions with smaller assets. (Some managers won't invest less than $50 million, for example.) Our ability to overlay the managers' model portfolios on an exact, timely and cost-effective basis is the key to our proven success.

Finally, we can help provide diligence on managers currently being employed by our clients, and will include them in a unified managed account (UMA) so their clients have a total understanding of the assets they hold.

Operational Efficiency Technology


The whole process begins with our portfolio overlay technology. Portfolio managers send us their model and we quickly replicate it. We mirror the positions and their weightings by rebalancing them, and also take into account any client guidelines or restrictions including prudent tax liability management.

For trading and settlement we have developed strong relationships with a wide array of institutional brokers and dealers to ensure best execution. Our order management and order execution technology ensures our block trades are executed and allocated timely, accurately and fairly.

Trades then settle with more than 100 major banks and broker custodians so your preferred custodian retains full and transparent control and custody of your client's assets. And you retain control of your client relationship.

If you are a trust bank, we have developed connectivity to all major trust accounting providers including Trust/Rite, Infovisa MAUI, Metavante, SEI 3000, Sungard Charlotte, Sungard AddVantage, HWA International, and AccuTrust. Additionally, we connect with most broker accounting systems. We provide daily uploads/downloads of the transactions and positions.

Operational efficiency also extends to your sales process with our customized desktop proposal generator. This tool lets you tailor client presentations and select money managers, their holdings, performance, multiple household accounts and asset allocation models, etc. A risk tolerance questionnaire will help you better understand your client's goals and objectives. These proposals can be modified and saved online should a client want you to make any changes.

The GlobalBridge Relationship Management Team is another integral operational component. The team provides online help, account set-up/changes, assistance with manager selection and conducts a regularly scheduled call to review managers. In addition, they will update you on website enhancements and any changes to the GB approved manager platform.
